Title VI Notice

Access to activities, nutrition sites, and medical appointments plays a vital role in senior citizens remaining independent and healthy. Without transportation services, many older adults are isolated and are at-risk for institutionalization.

How it Works

Residents of Tuscaloosa County, age 60 and older, can receive this service by contacting FOCUS Transportation Department.  Advance notice assures your transportation to important medical and social service appointments. Remember to call as soon as you receive your appointment date and time (we can schedule up to 3 months in advance).  If you have an emergency, call the office and ask if space is available.

FOCUS offers a door to door service, which means we can assist you from the door of your home to the door of your drop-off location(please notify the office if you need assistance to and from the van.)  Most program vehicles are handicap-accessible.  An escort may ride with the client if needed free of charge.  When you are ready to go home, simply ask the office staff to call FOCUS Transportation Department.

Tuscaloosa County residents ages 50-59 may qualify for medical transportation. Call the office to find out if you meet the criteria.

How Much it Costs
FOCUS is a non-profit organization and charges a small fee to cover gas cost and travel expenses. The fare is $2.50 one-way or $5.00 for a round trip. Each registered client is allowed one free escort per trip.
